Crisis Intervention and Emergency Services
877-993-4357
Crisis Intervention/Emergency Services is the daytime mental health emergency crisis system for Schuylkill County. Crisis Intervention/Emergency Services provides mobile and telephone counseling and walk-in crisis intervention services to members of the community to help them achieve satisfactory resolution to their problem. Call 570-628-5234.
Crisis Intervention includes Safehaven, a short-stay crisis residential facility designed to provide supportive counseling, structure, and stabilization to individuals experiencing emotional distress. It is an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization with a primary focus of providing individuals with the supports they need in order to remain in the community.
After-Hours Crisis Counseling and Emergency Service System
The After-hours Crisis Counseling and Emergency Services System (A.C.C.E.S.S.) is a Schuylkill County based program designed to provide crisis and emergency services to members of the community when the human services agencies are closed. The primary agencies served by A.C.C.E.S.S. are the Office of Senior Services, Children & Youth, Drug & Alcohol, Mental Health & Mental Retardation, and Adult Services. However, A.C.C.E.S.S. offers telephone counseling and crisis intervention services to members of the community to help them achieve a satisfactory resolution to their problem. They link persons with problems to agencies that can alleviate these problems. A.C.C.E.S.S. also resolves emergency and crisis situations and refers to on-call staff when "person-to-person" intervention is needed.
What is a Crisis?
A crisis involves a radical change in a person's life which causes them to become unable to cope or function.
What is an Emergency?
An emergency is a life threatening situation which poses a real danger to the health or safety of a person. Situations such as life threatening drug or alcohol abuse, suicide, child abuse, and the abuse of the elderly are considered emergencies. Problems such as these should be reported to A.C.C.E.S.S. immediately!
