Residential Services
Transitional Living Program
The Transitional Living Program is an innovative program in Schuylkill County to serve youth between the ages of 16 to 21 with mental health issues. The program was developed to teach life skills and transition youth that have mental health issues to live independently. The Transitional Living Program is designed to serve adolescents for a duration of up to eighteen months, providing an opportunity for development of independent living skills.
Youth are encouraged to actively engage in the process of preparing and transitioning to adult life. The program focuses on a strength-based approach for each resident to find their own path to successful adulthood.

Transitional Living Program Goals
The program is set up to provide 24-hour supervision for eight young adult residents that are making the journey transitioning to adulthood.
The program includes the following:
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Psychiatric evaluation
  • Medication management
  • Life skills development
  • Crisis counseling
  • Family counseling
  • Parent & youth educational trainings
  • Recreational therapy
  • Behavior modification

Safehaven / Crisis Residential Unit
Safehaven is a short-term crisis residential facility designed to provide supportive counseling, structure, and stabilization to individuals experiencing emotional distress. This safe, supervised environment offers an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization by providing individuals with the supports they need in order to remain in the community. Safehaven presents a comfortable, non-judgemental atmosphere in which one can process feelings and explore new options.

Safehaven is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and has a capacity of 8 persons. Individuals age 14 and older are appropriate for this program. The site is located in Pottsville. Transportation to the unit is available if necessary.
