Certified Peer Specialist (Part-Time)

Sample Duties
The Certified Peer Specialist assists individuals in preparing for psychiatric evaluations or medical appointments. Certified Peer Specialists improve assertiveness and advocacy skills of the client, in addition to developing Individual Service Plans in partnership with the client, utilizing a strengths-based model. Individuals in this role assist clients with realistic goal setting and attainment. The CPS acts as a temporary peer-support system to individuals who have recently been discharged from inpatient or crisis services in Acute Partial Hospital or Transitions Outpatient Program, while incorporating self-help techniques into daily living experiences and problem-solving activities. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will act as a role model, adapting to various styles of behavior, with the emphasis on recovery. The CPS teaches skills training, as it relates to individuals’ needs to successfully reach their goals, while practicing and encouraging advocacy activities to enable self-advocacy efforts. CPS Certification from a PA State-Approved CPS Trainer, High School Diploma/GED.
Special Requirement
PA CPS Certificate. Must have at least 12 months of work and/or volunteer experience. Must self-identify as an individual with lived experience with a mental health or substance abuse history.
